Choi, Soon-Yong, Dale. O. Stahl, and Andrew B. Whinston (1997). The Economics of Electronic Commerce. Indianapolis, IN: Macmillan Technical Publishing.

Though published two years ago, these authors were forward-thinking enough for their comments and perspectives to be still pertinent. This is not a "how-to" book, rather it covers all of the economic basics, including infrastructure and pricing, market efficiency, copyright issues, pricing issues, new intermediaries, and behaviors of the players in electronic commerce. The last chapter looks at future directions, and is especially good.

Leebaert, Derek (1998). The Future of the Electronic Marketplace. Cambridge, MA: The MIT Press.

This is a "how-to" book. Specifically, it identifies solutions for Web commerce, helping business owners and managers step through options to find a solution that fits their company. The author is the editor for Interactive Media and Marketing for Advertising Age magazine, has been senior editor at Information Week and Interactive Age. She knows this subject well.
